TRAILS

This site is your guide to the MCT Trails system- a free, family-friendly recreation and transportation option for Madison County, Illinois residents and visitors. Pick a trail and start exploring today!

About the MCT Trails

Nearly three decades ago, in an effort to preserve vital rail corridors, Madison County Transit (MCT) began acquiring former railroad rights-of-way for future light rail possibilities and interim trail use. Thirty years and $45 million* later, these corridors form the 138-mile MCT Trails system, an extensive network of separated Class One bikeways developed and maintained by MCT.

It is our hope that, with the aid of this site, you will explore the MCT Trails by bike, by rollerblade or on foot, and discover the landscapes, cultural institutions, historic neighborhoods and unique communities that make Madison County an exceptional place to live and work.

If you have questions or would like more information about the MCT Trails, please email trails@mct.org or call 618-797-4600.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy Trails!
